Flexible Positioning of the Notes List in Floaters
Flexible Positioning of the Notes List in Floaters
Currently, the Notes List (accessible via [⌘L
]) in Floaters is fixed in the top-left corner of the screen. It is not a freely movable window. This positioning can be inconvenient, especially for users with large or ultra-wide displays, as constantly looking at the top-left corner strains the neck and reduces usability.
It would be much nicer to:
- Allow free positioning of the Notes List via drag & drop or through the app settings.
- Offer fixed alignment options for the list: left, center, or right side of the screen.
Optional idea for future enhancement:
Introduce a true sidebar mode (similar to apps like SideNotes):
- Allow fixed sidebar positioning either on the left or right edge of the screen.
- Toggle the sidebar visibility by moving the mouse to a screen edge or using a keyboard shortcut.
Maybe it does not fix the ultra-wide screen issue, but it would allow a fixed height and one dimension less to think about (rescaling).
Additional notes:
- If planning a more extensive redesign, consider displaying the Notes List in a standalone window with a large search bar and an extended area for view or listrs, similar to applications plugins and workflows like Alfred or Raycast.
